Performance verification, not a guess
Coordinate measuring machine calibration in this trade means a performance verification test against ISO 10360-2 or ASME B89.4.1, combined with geometric adjustment and, where the controller permits, an update to the volumetric compensation map.
As-found data is captured before any adjustment. Certificates are issued under the performing laboratory's ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation scope, with traceability to the SI through NIST.

On-site or ship-in, either way documented
Scales, air bearings and geometry are inspected before the length measurement error test runs. Probing error is checked separately, per ISO 10360-5, against a calibrated test sphere.
Machines can be tested on-site at the shop floor, or removed and returned to a lab environment for machines needing repair beyond field adjustment.
Services
Calibration and repair sit alongside CMM programming and gage calibration, so the inspection department and the gage crib run on one recall schedule instead of three.

Service areas across Minnesota and the Greater Midwest
Coverage runs across the Minneapolis metro and the device-manufacturing corridor extending toward St. Cloud, Rochester and Mankato, with scheduled travel to Elk River, Eau Claire and Duluth.
The metro carries a concentration of ISO 13485 contract manufacturers and implant and instrument suppliers, most of them under the same clause 7.1.5.2 audit pressure that drives this work.
Why Minneapolis CMM Calibration and Repair
- 01
As-found before adjustment
Deviations are recorded before geometric correction, preserving the reverse-traceability trail an audit expects.
- 02
Scope checked against the machine
The performing laboratory's accredited scope is matched to axis travel before a quotation is issued.
- 03
ISO 13485 vocabulary
Requests from device suppliers are handled with DHF and DMR documentation needs in view.
- 04
On-site or ship-in
Scheduling accounts for inspection department downtime either way, not just travel distance.

Common questions
What does ISO 10360-2 actually test?
Five calibrated test lengths are measured three times each in seven positions across the measuring volume, 105 measurements total. Each deviation from the calibrated length is a length measurement error, checked against the machine's stated MPE.
What happens if the machine fails the as-found test?
As-found values are recorded before adjustment. Out-of-tolerance results are reported with enough detail to support a reverse-traceability impact assessment back to the last passing calibration.
Will this satisfy an IATF or AS9100 auditor?
For device suppliers under ISO 13485, the same clause structure applies. Certificates carry the traceability statement, uncertainty and decision rule those systems require.
