A program that measures the print
Running is not the same as measuring what the drawing requires. Datum structure, alignment strategy and feature selection are built from the GD&T callouts, not from whatever geometry the model exposes easily.
Programming is offered both offline, against a CAD model, and online, at the machine, depending on fixture availability and part maturity.
